“No human survived in the millions of years that we evolved by sitting still. The real stress in our lives is sitting still. We haven’t evolved the mechanisms for handling that type of stress. It’s not in our evolutionary experience to not do anything. We’ve always had to work at things physically, to go out there and get lunch. And I think that exercise beyond what we normally do in the course of our work is a way to supplement our sedentary lifestyle.”
