Pithiness, directness and passion, the science to getting letters published

“The Daily News, the South Philly Review, the Public Record, Philadelphia Gay News. The Inky‘s hard to get into. I got into the Inquirer once in 1997, when a Puerto Rican store owner shot a white kid. I live right there and I knew the store owner; he was a good guy. I tried the Washington Post and The New York Times, but forget it. They’re like the crème de la crème. But I got in the Star tabloid one time. They ran a story about the actress who was on Blossom. I wrote in and said how she had a really bad attitude. They paid me $10. I have even gotten into The Beatles Monthly.”
