;Goodbye, Lenin! is on its way toward becoming one of Germany’s biggest box office successes. Four million Germans have already seen the film in its first month, according to the distributor, about one million more than the number of Germans who saw the entire run of the 1998 hit film Run Lola Run, which also became a hit in the United States. The producers say they have spoken to a number of companies, including Sony Classics, about distributing the film in the United States, but so far there are no plans. “The film is too complicated and historical for most Americans,” said the film’s director, Wolfgang Becker.
